During the 1850s, Gustav Jahn was the mayor of Sandersleben and near-by Freckleben. He managed a refurbishing of the city hall (Rathaus) which was adjacent to the Lutheran Church St. Marien. A picture of both from about 1903 shows how both looked not long after Gustav's death in 1888.
